Technical Designer

  • Programmed the prototype of the dialogue system.

  • Iterated on and changed the dialogue system multiple times throughout the project based on feedback.

  • Collaborated with the other programmer in making the notebook system.

  • Collaborated with the writer and artists to integrate dialogue and art.

  • Implemented various polish features and game juice such as: fading dialogue boxes, smooth screen transitions, and other visual enhancements to improve the overall user experience.

  • Used a monolithic script for the dialogue system in the project. But as the codebase grew it became harder to manage. Gained valuable experience on the importance of modular code for better maintainability and scalability.

  • Focused more on the story than the gameplay, which resulted in less engaging mechanics. Learned the importance of balancing both elements, especially when working within a limited timeframe.

  • Learned that completing a project for the sake of finishing it can be counterproductive. Knowing when to move on is very important.
